I disabled Java on my main computer last year after hearing all sorts of bad things about its security problems.Īnyway, here are my pertinent specs on the machine that had the problem running LMMS (I'm also including a list of processes running at the time of the error): (For a brief moment, I considered installing a Linux partition on this computer, too - but honestly, I've got enough stuff on this thing already! ) But the laptop is slow as beans, with a (relatively) tiny screen, so I'd rather not have to run it there. I was able to install the 32-bit version of LMMS on my laptop, which is running a dual install of Windows XP and Linux Ubuntu (both versions worked like a charm there). Got the same error message (as seen in måns' screenshot above) every time. I have full administrator privileges, btw. Oh, and I also tried running the 32-bit version in "compatibility mode" (as Windows XP, SP3). I even thought it was maybe a QuickTime problem, as I saw some files being installed that had "qt" in them - so I installed the latest version of QT, uninstalled and reinstalled LMMS noticed I had QT Lite installed, so uninstalled both that and the actual QT installation, uninstalled & reinstalled LMMS installed several versions of the C++ runtime libraries from Microsoft's website and tried both 64-bit and 32-bit LMMS installs of the latest version (1.1.3), v1.1.0, and v1.0.99. Same error dialog, very similar system, and pretty much the same fixes attempted with no luck. I appear to have the exact same issue as måns. Ĭheers Måns Mårtensson (Teacher from Denmark) I'd love to give more technical details however I don't know how to debug what's happening during the start up of the program in Windows (Linux is another matter.). I do have the option to start this machine up with another OS (AV-Linux) - however I need access to windows only drivers for some of my hardware, especially my Zoom R16. Same problem - Program won't start up on my machine - which I think is a great pitty, as I have had it running on another machine 5 months ago without any problems. Now I've tried to start up LMMS up on Windows 7 professional in five different ways:ġ) Simply installed the 64 bit version of 1.1.3Ģ) Removed the 64 bit version and installed the 32 bit version of 1.1.3ģ) Removed the 32 bit version and installed the 64 bit version of 1.1.2Ĥ) Ran a Windows update for a couple of hours (bad internet) - several reboots and at last got an option to install a newer Visual C++ library - intalled it.ĥ) Reinstalled the 64 bit version of 1.1.3 - still no luckĦ) Removed previous installation and downloaded the portable apps version of LMMs v.
